Choosing the Best Camping Gear for Your Next Camping Adventure

Is your first ever camping adventure on the horizon? If so, you undoubtedly have questions about what to bring, and you are not alone. Although a camping trip is a great way to get away and relax, the planning phase can be stressful. Keep on reading. We have some great ideas to help ease the pain of planning your first camping quest.

Camping is an activity that requires planning and bringing lots of stuff. This "stuff" is often divided into two categories: camping gear and camping supplies. Generally, camping gear refers to the actual equipment you need for camping. Camping supplies usually means your food, clothes, personal care items and other miscellaneous things.

Deciding what camping supplies to bring with you is a matter of personal preference. Many people already know what clothes and food items they have to bring along. The thing many first-time campers struggle with, however, is what camping equipment is really necessary for their trip. There are many different pieces of camping gear, and you will find an outline of some of them below.

First let's talk about one of the most common pieces of camping equipment, the tent. Depending on the size of your camping group, you may need to bring a few tents. When you go to buy your camping tent, be sure to get one that is strong, sturdy, reliable and waterproof. Even if you will be bringing a motor home on your camping excursion, you may still want to bring a tent. There's nothing like a night in a tent to put you in touch with the great outdoors.

Number two on the list of camping gear is a sleeping bag. Know how many people will be in your camping party, and make sure you bring enough sleeping bags for everyone. Although warm summer weather may have you thinking you need only a light sleeping bag, keep in mind that summer storms can bring chilly weather with them, especially at night.

To enhance your sleeping bag experience even more, you may want to consider taking an air mattress or sleeping pad along. Sleeping on the hard, bumpy ground, even in a tent, can tend to be uncomfortable. Some campsites have nice level ground, but not all of them. If you are at all concerned about getting proper sleeping while on your camping trip, bring an air mattress or sleeping pad just in case. They aren't expensive pieces of equipment, and you may find the investment quite worthwhile.

Keep all of the pieces of camping gear in mind when planning your first camping trip, and your adventure should be a wild success!
